The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday demanded police investigation in the sting operation, which went viral on a news channel revealing threat to its party chief Arvind Kejriwal.
The party held a news conference in the national capital on Saturday and screened the footage of the operation showcasing a close aide of BJP legislator Anil Jha, talking about teaching a lesson to Kejriwal by not just slapping him this time, but hurting him.
Demanding police investigation in the matter, AAP leader Ashutosh said, "It is a very serious matter since there have been multiple attacks one after the other on Arvind Kejriwal since the Lok Sabha elections. At that point of time, BJP and Congress had mocked at us saying AAP party members are behind the attacks. Then also, we had said that if we were behind the attacks, then get it investigated, and if it says that we were involved, action can be taken against us, but if the name of any other party chief or Anil Jha's name crops up, action must be taken against them."
Echoing similar sentiments, AAP spokesperson Dilip Pandey, said that despite having witnessed a landslide victory in the general elections, BJP fears other parties' presence and can go to any extent to remain in power.
"This incident shows that despite having formed the government at the Centre with majority, BJP government is afraid. The second thing, which this incident shows is that Bharatiya Janata Party as per its political ideology and the way it looks at politics, can go to any extent to be in power. There is simply no limit," said Pandey.
Kejriwal had been attacked several times during the campaigning for the general elections.
