Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Prashant Bhushan said on Wednesday that it is now gearing up for its next target- to contest in the 2014 general elections, after its impressive performance in Delhi Assembly Elections.
Bhushan said that the year old party was preparing to contest in the upcoming general elections. He did not specify the number of constituencies the AAP would contest from.
"In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Aam Aadmi Party will compete on a national level. From how many parts will it contest is uncertain but it is for sure that the party will contest from as many places as possible in the elections." Bhushan said.
Bhushan said that after the party's 'stunning victory' in the Delhi Assembly poll, there will be no dearth of candidates eager to join the party.
The AAP candidates who would contest in parliamentary elections will have a clean record, added Bhushan.
Taking a dig at the prime ministerial candidate of India's main opposition party, Narendra Modi, Bhushan said that he was no different from other political elite in the country.
Drawing parallels between Modi and the Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal, Bhushan said there is a vast difference between the two as they represent different schools of politics.
Bhushan said Kejriwal represented a new kind of politics that was people inclusive, transparent and accountable.
"There is a vast difference between Narendra Modi and Arvind Kejriwal. Modi represents the same kind of politics that we have seen in this country practised by the BJP and the Congress. That same kind of crony capitalistic policies that have been pursued in this country." Bhushan said.
On Tuesday, Kejriwal announced 50 percent cut in electricity tariff, delivering his second pre-poll promise, after fulfilling his commitment of free water supply to every household, within four days of assuming power.
Kejriwal has to prove his majority in 70-member Delhi legislature in a couple of days.
