AAP using communal card out of frustration: Balbir Punj

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), leader Balbir Punj said Wednesday that a frustrated Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is using the communal card to gain political strength.

"Practically, those people who are from the AAP, are frustrated. They have completely forgotten their plank of fighting against corruption on which the party was originally formed. They are disheartened with their status, hence, they are using the communal card to divide the people. But, people are wise and hence, they will not allow their modus- operandi to become successful. Therefore, it is important that the Election Commission takes action," Punj said while reacting on Shazia Ilmi's communal statement asking Muslims to be communal.

In a video posted on Youtube, Aam Aadmi Party leader Shazia Ilmi is seen appealing to Muslim leaders to be communal.

"I am saying Muslims are very secular. Muslims need to be communal. A Muslim isn't communal - doesn't vote for his own. Arvind Kejriwal is one of you. You are too. Don't be this secular. Look after your own homes interests," Ilmi said in the video.

Meanwhile, the AAP has issued a clarification through Twitter, saying "AAP does not believe in this kind of politics nor does it endorse it.
