All-rounder Shahid Afridi has reportedly blamed Pakistan's top order batsmen for their negative approach following the team's thrashing by the West Indies, which paved their way for an early exit from the World Twenty20.

Pakistan will reportedly miss out on the tournament's semi-finals for the first time, following their early exit with an 84-run defeat against the defending champions West Indies in the Super-10 match.

According to Sport24, Afridi said that they lost the match because of their negative approach in the first six overs, as Pakistan was reduced to 13-4 in 5.3 overs by the West Indies, while chasing 167.

The all-rounder said that it was not such a big total, which could not be achieved.

Although the selectors reportedly recalled 'experienced' Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Malik for the World T20, both of them failed to make an impact and scored just 48 and 52 runs respectively in four matches.

Pakistan coach Moin Khan reportedly revealed that the cricket board needed to take some 'tough decisions' after doing a close scrutiny on the team's performance.

On being questioned if the all-rounder is ready to take over as the ODI and T20 team's captain, Afridi said that he is ready to accept any challenge for the Pakistan team adding that he has no issues as a player and as a captain, but things should improve, the report added.
