The International Boxing Association (AIBA) Women's World Boxing Championship is underway in the capital city of India. The boxers participating in the prestigious tournament seem to be concerned with the bad air quality of Delhi as they were seen travelling with their masks on.
A boxer from Ukraine, Yuliia Stoiko, told ANI: "My first feeling when I came to India is bad air. I could not breathe properly. We referred internet to get more information about the city and we got to know that the air here is bad for health."
Ukraine coach, Sergil, also voiced the same opinion and said that the atmosphere is filled with thick smog.
"Back at our place in winter it is cold but here it is sunny and warm. The people are very kind and helpful. However, the air quality is bad and the atmosphere is filled with smog," Sergil said.
Speaking on the matter, Boxing Federation of India president Ajay Singh said that they have taken good care of the indoor stadiums as well as places nearby so that players do not face the consequences of bad air quality in the city.
