Airplane with 100 people on board catches fire in Tehran

A flight with 100 people on board caught fire at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport on Tuesday (local time), according to Tehran's emergency department.

No injuries have been reported as all the passengers were safely evacuated, Sputnik reported while quoting local media. 10 ambulances reached the spot to respond to the incident immediately.

Even though the incident occurred after the aircraft's landing gear failed to open properly, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown. The model of the plane is yet to be disclosed.

The fire has been extinguished.
