South African player Alviro Petersen has said that he has no desire to make it to the Proteas' one-day squad after he was left out of it for the upcoming series against Pakistan in the UAE, despite being included in the Test squad.

According to Sport24, Petersen had relinquished his captaincy role in December citing commitments to the national team, but returned to take the reigns in the domestic T20 series and led his side to victory in the competition in April.

Peterson said that he was happy to play Test cricket and happy to play for the Lions domestic team, adding that he was happy with where he was in his cricket career.

With the Proteas T20 squad announcement set to be made after the Champions League Twenty20, Petersen expressed that his players would be keen to impress the selectors as they head to India on Tuesday, the report said.

The Lions, runners up in the Champions League last season, will have the opportunity to showcase their talent in the tournament in India from September 17, the report added.

The Lions play their first Champions league on September 23 against the Perth Scorchers at Ahmedabad, the report further said.
