Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Sambit Patra on Saturday questioned why there is a hue and cry in Congress circles with regard to the CBI probe of the Rajasthan ambulance scam if they had not committed any wrong.

"Today, if the law is taking its own course, if the investigation is proceeding, why should be there any hue and cry, why should be there any problem? Those who have nothing to hide, those who have not committed any error, should not have any kind of fear in them. That we can see fear in their (Congress) faces, means that something is amiss, something is wrong. Let's see what the law has to say," Patra told ANI.

"We all know that during Mr. (Ashok) Gehlot's tenure as a chief minister of Rajasthan, a great scam of humongous amount was unearthed. The 108 ambulance scheme had seen that scam. The people then in Rajasthan then had demanded that a free and fair probe to be conducted to reveal the name of the people from Congress who are involved in that scam, he added.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the ambulance scam probe on Friday against Gehlot, Sachin Pilot and other Congress Party members.

The scam dates back to 2009 when Ziqitza Healthcare, a company run by Ravi Krishna, received a tender to operate 108 ambulances across Rajasthan, Bihar and Punjab.

An audit was conducted after the BJP alleged that Krishna's company was being paid money for ambulances which were only on paper. It was discovered that the state exchequer incurred a loss of Rs 14 crores.
