Amit Shah targets Congress, vows to build Ram temple at disputed site in Ayodhya

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's aide and BJP's Uttar Pradesh in-charge, Amit Shah, visited the Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya on Saturday, and said that a grand temple of Lord Ram will be built here soon.

"I came here to pray to Ram Lalla. It is a center of faith for crores of Hindus. I have asked that there should be good governance in the country and the country gets rid of the Congress. I have also prayed that we should all together build a grand temple for Lord Ram here as soon as possible," he told the media here.

Shah earlier in the day held parleys with office-bearers and workers of various units of the BJP here.

Modi, who now heads the BJP's election campaign committee for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, was earlier invited to participate at the Amrit Mahotsav in Ayodhya that was organised to mark the 75th birthday of Mahant Nritya Gopal Das of the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas.

He, however, turned down the invitation citing preoccupation.

The construction of Ram temple at the dispute site in Ayodhya has always been in BJP's top agenda, but it was put on the back burner after formation of the NDA.
