Commenting on the series of ceasefire violations by Pakistan this week, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nalin Kohli said today that the government, and in particular Defence Minister Arun Jaitley, have made it clear that the armed forces will give a fitting reply.

Kohli told ANI, "Whether it is the matter of their high commissioner preferring to speak with separatists rather than encouraging talks between the two countries, or whether it is the continued violation of the ceasefire, our government, and in particular the Defence Minister, Arun Jaitley, has made it clear that the armed forces will give a befitting reply to such violations.

"We have full confidence on our armed forces and I am sure that Pakistan will also get exposed about its duplicity with relations vis-a-vis India," he added.

BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain also stated that Pakistan was indulging in firing at the border to distract the attention of its people from its internal turmoil.

Hussain said that India wants good relations with Pakistan, therefore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had invited Pakistan's Prime Minister for his swearing-in ceremony and clearly told him that we want good relations with them.

Hussain said, "But they should not interfere in India's internal matters and should behave as good neighbours."

He also said, "Pakistan does firing at the border to distract the attention of its people from its internal turmoil to which we give fitting reply. The policy of the government is clear that we want relations but such actions will not be tolerated."

Residents of the R. S Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed yet another night of heavy shelling and firing on Thursday night and took to hiding in bunkers as yet another ceasefire violation took place in the area.

This is the fifth consecutive ceasefire violation by Pakistan since Monday.
