Chief of Army Staff General Dalbir Singh felicitated members of India's first ever Mt. Everest Expedition Team at the Manekshaw Convention Centre here yesterday.
General Singh interacted with the members and next of kin of those deceased during the event organised by the Indian Army's Adventure Wing.
He addressed the gathering and expressed his gratitude to all expedition members for bringing laurels to the army and the nation. He also announced that the Indian Army Mount Everest Expedition Team will scale the summit in 2016, thereby, concluding the event.
The Golden Jubilee of Indian's first successful ascent on Mt. Everest, which was led by Captain (Retired) M S Kohli (Padma Bhushan recipient) in 1965, is being celebrated from May 19 to May 21 by the Indian Mountaineering Federation.
The expedition team had nineteen members, including ten Indian Army mountaineers.
