Army conducts last rites of Gallantry award winner Col. M.N. Rai

The army on Wednesday conducted the wreath laying ceremony of martyr Colonel Munindra Nath Rai, who lost his life fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Tral just one day after he was awarded a gallantry medal.

Colonel Rai is survived by his wife and three children.

On Monday, Colonel Rai had won the Yudh Seva medal for killing a foreign terrorist in a close battle last year.

The Yudh Seva medal one of India's highest military decorations for wartime distinguished service, is awarded for a high degree of distinguished services.
