Australia need just four more wickets to wrap up a famous victory in the second Ashes Test at Adelaide as England are placed at 247/6, chasing a target of 531.

The hosts declared on their overnight score at the start of the fourth day, before Joe Root and Kevin Pietersen made efforts to rescue the visitors, making 87 and 53 respectively, falling eventually to Nathan Lyon and Peter Siddle.

Mitchell Johnson took just one wicket but is expected to take a few more considering how he ripped through the England lower order in their first innings.

Stuart Broad (22 not out) and Matt Prior (31 not out) are currently occupying the crease for the visitors.
