Indian tennis ace Rohan Bopanna and his Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski of Canada produced a rich vein of form as they rolled into the second round of the mixed doubles at the Australian Open here on Saturday.
The Indo-Canadian unseeded pair registered a 6-4, 7-6 (5), 10-7 win over the Kiwi-Slovenian team of Michael Venus and Katarina Srebotnik in the opening-round contest that lasted one hour and 21 minutes.
With the win, Bopanna and Dabrowski have now set up a clash against the Polish- Taiwanese team of Lukasz Kubot and Yung-Jan Chan.
Earlier, Bopanna and his men's doubles Uruguayan partner Pablo Cuevas crashed out of the first major of the season after going down at the hands of Australian pair of Bradley Mousley and Alex Bolt 6-2, 6-7 (2), 4-6 in a thrilling second round.
Meanwhile, second-seeded mixed doubles duo of Sania Mirza and Croatia's Ivan Dodig will also aim to make a winning start to their campaign when they take on German-Croatian team of Laura Siegemund and Mate Pavic in their mixed doubles contest later today.
