Bollywood star Deepika Padukone who recently revealed that she had at one point suffered from depression, said that battling depression has made her a much more sensitive person.
On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, which is observed on October 10 every year to raise awareness about mental health issues around the world, Padukone launched her foundation 'Live Love and Laugh' in India's showbiz capital Mumbai.
Drawing from her own experiences, the 'Piku' star, said that one needs to pay attention to the early signs of depression.
When asked whether battling depression made Deepika a better person or not, she told the media, "I don't know whether I am inter-linking the two, sub-consciously if it is happening then probably yes and as it was mentioned earlier depression happens to nice and sensitive people, I don't know about nice but I am definitely a sensitive person and battling depression has made me more sensitive."
Present on the occasion was also Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who launched this philanthropic initiative.
The Chief Minister spoke about the troubles of the farmers in the Vidarbha region and also urged Deepika and her foundation to engage and collaborate with them to find effective solutions to their mental health issues.
