The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday warned India vice captain Virat Kohli to 'maintain dignity' of the cricket team, asking him to refrain from off-the-field confrontations in the future.
The BCCI statement has come after Kohli reportedly had an altercation with an Indian journalist during the practice sessions of the ongoing World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
"The player in question has been told to maintain the dignity of the Indian team at all times, and avoid any such behaviour in the future," the statement read.
"The BCCI respects the role played by the media in covering and popularizing the game of cricket, and acknowledges the support of the media, in its mission to administer and promote the game of cricket in India," it added.
On Friday, India will play its fourth match of the ongoing tournament against the West Indies in Perth.
