Overjoyed with the trends appearing to be in favour of the Mahagatbhandan, the Janata Dal (United) on Sunday said that the people of Bihar have once again reposed their faith in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and have asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders to 'take off'.
"It is a clear cut indication that the people of Bihar have reposed their faith in Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. They have asked the BJP and Narendra Modi to take off from Bihar," JD(U) spokesperson Ajay Alok told ANI.
"The initial trends are suggesting that we are reaching the mark of 160, but let me assure you that when the final results come, we will cross the benchmark of 180," he added.
Early morning trends had shown the NDA taking a significant lead, but the JD(U) was quick to catch up once counting shifted from postal ballots to electronic voting machine votes.
The BJP was leading in 76 seats, while the JD(U)-RJD-Congress combine was leading in 156 seats. Others were leading in nine seats. The half-way mark in the 243 member house is 122.
