Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijay Goel on Tuesday asked prominent writers of the country as to why did they not return their Sahitya Akademi awards when the Congress-led UPA regime was in power for a decade.
"Writers should be concerned with their pens only, otherwise giving awards to the people would be stopped," he told ANI here.
Goel also said that if writers want to give back these awards, they should return it to the regime that awarded them, and said that how would these writers give back the recognition attached to the awards.
Several prominent writers have returned their awards to protest against the government's 'silence' over the killing of writer MM Kalburgi and the 'rising intolerance' in the country.
