BJP's Delhi Unit president Satish Upadhyay on Saturday praised senior leaders for allowing their juniors to come forward and take up leadership roles.

Addressing participants at the National Council Meeting here, Upadhyay said that it is only in the BJP that junior leaders are given a chance to speak to their seniors.

Upadhyay said, "I don't have words enough to thank the party. They taught an ordinary person like me everything. It is possible only in a party like the BJP, where a person like me has been given a chance to speak a few words. The dreams of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee, Deen Dayal, Lal Krishna Advani and Atal Behari Vajpayee, all the senior workers present is here."

"It was our collective dream that the Prime Minister would hoist the national flag at Red Fort on 15th August," he added.

Thanking the representatives of Delhi, he said, "The Delhi representatives gave us a chance and we have done our best for the national council. We have tried our best to provide every comfort to the officials. Still, if we have lacked anywhere, then I, on the behalf all the officials of Delhi, apologize."

"I feel that with today's national council meeting, we would take them along from Delhi, for the elections to be held in four states," Upadhyay added.

This is the BJP's first national council meeting after it formed the government at the Centre in May this year.
