Congress leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi on Tuesday said that instead of trusting their votes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to spoil the image of other parties to win in the upcoming elections and added that the party was not going to win this time.
"BJP instead of trusting their votes, they are trying to spoil the image of other parties. This is an extremely wrong strategy that they are using," said Joshi.
"They would not be able to win this way. Congress party will beat BJP because you cannot fool the public," she said.
"This party is just a show off. First, they say that there is a BJP wave all over the country, and then they approach small parties and take celebrities. Even in Modi's speeches there is no history, no meaning and the language which he uses is not correct," she added.
BJP has fielded Smriti Irani against Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi from Amethi Lok Sabha constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The party also nominated Supreme Court lawyer Ajay Aggarwal against Sonia Gandhi in Rae Bareli.
The decision on Irani and Aggarwal was taken at a meeting of the party's Central Election Committee here last night. Top BJP leaders Narendra Modi, LK Advani, Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley were present at the meeting.
