Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers gathered in huge numbers at the party headquarters here in order to welcome party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, who will hold a roadshow in the capital later today.

The BJP workers danced near the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) as they eagerly wait for Modi to arrive in the capital.

"People are waiting for him desperately. He will be stepping in the capital for the first time as the newly elected prime minister. Our party workers are very enthusiastic. And we all are waiting for him here," said BJP leader Harshvardhan.

"Better days are going to come for the people of the nation. Our nation will progress with extraordinary speed under his leadership. India will regain its lost identity and dignity," he added.

After securing a handsome 337 majority win for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the 2014 general elections, Modi will arrive in Delhi to take part in a roadshow to celebrate his victory, and will also attend a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board at the party headquarters in Lutyen's Delhi.

The BJP has decided to use his journey from the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) to the BJP headquarters as a victory procession.

In the board meeting, the party will discuss the future course of action, including the shape and structure of the new government.

The Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory asking commuters to avoid certain roads that fall on or around the route that the Modi roadshow will take.

According to the advisory, from 10 a.m.onwards, no traffic exiting from Terminal-3 shall be allowed to go on the Central Spine Road and Tunnel Road and Aerocity.

All traffic shall be diverted straight towards Centaur Hotel and Mahipalpur on National Highway Eight.

Meanwhile, BJP flags and posters of Modi have been installed on the route of the roadshow, and supporters of the BJP have expressed hope for good days ahead, and jobs, under Modi's stewardship of the central government.
