Prime Minister David Cameron has reportedly announced his decision to send British troops to Ukraine in the next few weeks to provide advice and training.
Cameron told a House of Commons committee that up to 75 British personnel divided into four teams would be sent to an area well away from the conflict zone in east Ukraine to provide medical, logistics, intelligence and infantry training, reported the BBC.
British Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said in a statement that the move was prompted by "continued Russian-backed aggression."
Cameron warned that more sanctions would follow on Russia if the separatists failed to observe the truce.
His statement came as pro-Russian rebels claimed that they were withdrawing heavy weapons from the front line in eastern Ukraine as part of the Minsk ceasefire deal.
However, Kiev disputed the claims made by the separatists.
The United States had already said that it was planning to send a battalion of soldiers to train three Ukrainian troops.
