Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) D K Pathak said here on Wednesday that the Indian security forces have been retaliating very strongly to the ceasefire violations from across the border.

Pathak, who also paid a visit to the Government Hospital in Jammu to meet civilians who were injured in the gunfire, said, "We are giving answer and we have been retaliating very strongly."

He also added that Pakistani troops were targeting residential areas because they weren't able to cause significant damages to the BSF posts.

"They are targeting the residential areas because they think that they are not being able to cause any huge damage to the BSF posts, which is wrong and should not happen," said Pathak adding, "At present there are no talks about flag meeting,"

Meanwhile, an injured civilian, Javed Hussain told ANI, "The firing started at 8 pm last night and lasted till 7 am today morning. There is a lot of fear and seven of us have been injured, seven buffaloes and fifteen goats have also died. We got injured when we had gone to milk the buffaloes in the morning."

At least eight people have died and more than 50 have been left injured in the last three days in the indiscriminate shelling all along the International Border and LoC in Jammu region.

Thousands of people living on the International Border have also started to migrate to safer places as the Pakistan rangers last night again resorted to unprovoked mortar shelling and heavy firing on the BSF posts.
