The budget session of the Puducherry Assembly will begin today.
This is the first session of the territorial assembly since the Congress came to power in the Union Territory.
The session will open with the customary address by Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi to the assembly.
Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy, who holds the finance portfolio, will present the budget on August 29.
The previous N. Rangasamy-led administration had passed the vote on account for government expenditure in the first six months in March.
Rangasamy is slated to be the opposition leader in the assembly as his party has elected him its legislature party leader.
