A case has been registered against unknown persons in Musheerabad Police Station by an animal welfare organisation called the People for Animals on charges of burning the puppies alive.

The case was registered yesterday under Sections 429 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 11/A, 11/L of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

As per reports, a group of boys allegedly tied three puppies and burnt them alive. One of the boys recorded the entire incident and is even heard instructing the others to set the puppies on fire.

The development comes weeks after two final year medical students threw a dog from the terrace of a three-storey building in Hyderabad.

The incident was first reported after the students uploaded the video footage on social media and it went viral.

Last month too, 50 stray dogs burnt alive at a Keezhamur village, some 50-kms from Chennai, had been reported.
