The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has reportedly said that it will study the Supreme Court's latest order on the Uphaar Cinema fire case.

The All India Radio quoted official sources, as saying that the agency may take a call on filing a review petition after going through the judgment.

The apex court has already declined a CBI plea for an opportunity to advance arguments on points left out in Uphaar fire tragedy case. The court asked CBI to file a review plea in the case.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court ruled that Gopal and Sushil Ansal, who were declared convicts in the 1997 Uphaar fire tragedy, would not be sent to the jail. The apex court, however, imposed a fine of Rs.60 crores on them to be paid within three months.

Gopal and Sushil Ansal were convicted in 2014. Fifty nine people, trapped in the balcony of the theatre, died of asphyxia following the fire and over 100 were injured in the subsequent stampede on June 13, 1997.
