Describing the constant ceasefire violations by Pakistan as 'a serious matter', Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha said here on Wednesday that India wants peace and tranquility at the borders and efforts are being made by the government and the security forces to bring the situation under control.
"The matter is very serious and the government is taking it very seriously. We are all concerned and the efforts are being made to bring this under control, the government and the security forces are working towards it," said Raha
"We want a resolution of this matter. We want peace and tranquility at our borders. India wants good relations with its neighbours and you can see that government is trying hard for that," he added.
He also said that all three chiefs of staff had updated the Defence Minister on the issues happening on the border during a meeting yesterday.
Meanwhile, Congress Party leader Rashid Alvi told ANI, "Prime Minister's silence is not the solution. The Prime Minister must break his silence and talk to Pakistan in strict terms."
According to the BSF, over 50 BSF posts and nearly 30 border villages were affected by the firing from Pakistan side that restarted at 8.30 pm last night that injured at least sixteen persons, including four Army personnel and a BSF jawan.
India has decided to put on hold the proposal for a flag meeting at the commander-level along the border in Jammu and Kashmir.
