Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Nasim Zaidi has assured the political parties that all steps would be taken to ensure free and fair polls in Bihar.
The Election Commission team led by Zaidi is in the state capital to review poll preparations for the first three phases of assembly elections in the state.
Election Commission is undergoing discussion with Commissioners, Inspectors General of Police, DMs and SPs of districts going to the polls in the first three phases.
In the afternoon the Chief Election Commissioner will hold review meeting with Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and Director General of Police of the state. Before leaving Delhi the Election commission team will also hold meeting with Director General of Enforcement, Chief Commissioner of Income tax and Excise Commissioner.
Polls in Bihar will take place from October 12 to November 5. The counting of votes will take place on November 8. The tenure of the current assembly expires on November 29.
