Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechury on Wednesday said the Narendra Modi-led NDA Government at the Centre must take a clear stand on its dealings with Pakistan, without which, relations between the two countries will not improve.
"If the issues between India and Pakistan have to be solved, then talks are necessary. The government must take a clear stand: first they were invited to the swearing-in ceremony and said India would talk, then the talks were cancelled; now again they are saying that there will be talks. With these kind of things, neither will our foreign policy progress nor, will our relations with the neighbours improve," Yechury said.
According to reports, Prime Minister Modi will not be meeting his Pakistani counterpart on the sidelines of the ongoing 18th annual South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Summit in Kathmandu.
Prime Minister Modi has met Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Afghan president Ashraf Ghani.
