Premier League Club Chelsea is the favourite to sign Wayne Rooney after the striker faces a slightly discomforting position regarding his future with Manchester United, while the Premier League Champions think of getting big names such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in their club.
According to the Mirror, Rooney is still a target for both Arsenal and Chelsea, with the England star costing around 25 million pounds.
However, the report said that Rooney would have to demand a transfer to have the Old Trafford hierarchy, review his position.
United Executive Vice-Chairman Ed Woodward said that acquiring Van Persie was an example that Manchester United was on a lookout for big players.
