Chief Secy row: 'Should elected CM have no say in selection?' asks Kejriwal

Reiterating his opposition to the appointment of Shankuntala Gamlin as the acting chief secretary of Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday questioned whether a person

perceived to be very close to power companies should be elevated to the post.

"My Q 2 Delhites - Shud a person perceived to be very close to bijli cos be made CS of Del? Shud elected CM have no say in selection?" Kejriwal wrote on twitter.

"All over country, huge nexus betn politicians, officers n cos. In Del, v r trying to break that nexus. That's why whole system opposing," he added.

Kejriwal, who is presently locked in war of words with Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on the issue, has found support from former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference leader

Omar Abdullah.

"Like it or not, right choice or wrong a CM must be free to choose his or her own team of officers. This back seat driving damages democracy," Omar wrote on twitter.

"Why bother to have elections for a state government if the mandate is going to be bypassed and the state run from Raj Niwas?" he added.

The Lieutenant Governor had yesterday appointed Gamlin as Delhi's acting chief secretary despite strong opposition from Kejriwal.
