Srinagar: Orientation programme held for Hajj pilgrims

The Jammu and Kashmir State Hajj Committee conducted an orientation camp for pilgrims from the Srinagar district, with the objective of to enlighten them on issues concerning rituals to be observed at Mecca and Medina.

"Such orientation programmes are held every year. We visit every district and hold such programmes. In this camp, the experts guide the pilgrims how to travel to Mecca, Medina and then back to their homes. A total number of 6,500 pilgrims will be visiting the holy place from

the Valley," said State Haj Committee executive officer Fayaz Ahmed Lone.

The Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, and a mandatory religious duty for Muslims that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by all adult Muslims who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey, and can support their family during their absence.
