China-Pakistan railway link has been initiated after Chinese officials were asked to carry out research to identify a location for railway connectivity between Pakistan and China.

Pakistan premier Nawaz Sharif had announced in June that they would like to build new road and rail links to Kashgar in China and establish a Sino-Pakistan economic corridor.

The Dawn reports that people were enthusiastic on plans to build a train link to connect Kashgar in Xinjiang of China with Gwadar in Pakistan.

According to the report, a railway link between the two countries will reduce the transportation time from Pakistan to cities around China to almost 10 days.
