With the air quality reaching 'severe' levels in most parts of Delhi, courtesy the bursting of crackers coupled with stagnant wind movement, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday said an app will be launched for people to share their grievances on pollution.

He said that Public Works Department (PWD) would be roped in to tackle the rising menace of dust particles, which had exacerbated the situation.

"To keep dust down, the PWD has been asked to make a plan in cleaning of the roads. In reply, they said that in the next two days roads will be sprinkled on, so that the dust, which collects along the road, settles down," Sisodia said.

Sisodia said that 61 big construction sites have been identified in the national capital where the environment department would keeping a constant vigil and report if there is any spike in pollutants.

"Some sites aren't checked regularly so environment department has been asked to spread awareness and also an open portal will be made for people to share grievances about open construction sites causing pollution." he said.

The air quality in Delhi and many states in the northern belt reached alarming levels during Diwali, the worst in three years.

Commuters yesterday found it difficult to travel as the visibility level plunged in several areas.

According to the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), the pollutant PM 2.5 had breached the safe yardstick by over 14 times at Anand Vihar and Delhi.
