Civil Aviation ministry advises UP government, AAI to implement regional connectivity scheme at seven airports

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has advised the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to implement the draft regional connectivity scheme at seven airports in the state as per the guidelines incorporated in the National Civil Aviation Policy announced on June 19, 201.6

Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma and Civil Aviation Secretary Rajiv Nayan Choubey met state government and AAI officials to assessn the progress made on the development of airports in Uttar Pradesh and also on the implementation of the RCS.

Earlier, the AAI had signed an MOU with the Government of Uttar Pradesh on February 24.2014 to develop airports and civil enclaves at seven airports namely, Agra, Allahabad, Bareilly, Kanpur, Faizabad, Meerut and Moradabad.

For this, the Master Plan has already been prepared by AAI and the land requirement projected is of state government. The state government has started the land acquisition proceedings and the land will be available for Agra, Allahabad, Bareilly and Kanpur by October 2016.

It has been decided to construct No Frill Airports/Civil Enclaves at these airports. Considering this, the state government has requested that the land requirement for Meerut, Faizabad and Moradabad is to be reworked out.

It was decided to revise the complete Master Plan within one month's time so that the state government can start land acquisition proceedings.

For Jewar airport, the state government has submitted an application for getting the site clearance from the steering committee.

It was advised that the obstacle survey to be completed by the state government at the earliest so that the application for site clearance can be processed.

Sharma asked the Uttar Pradesh government and its officials to expedite the process.
