Cold wave and dense fog disrupted normal life across India with plummeting temperatures and low visibility, forcing the people to stay within the confines of their houses.

Temperature in several parts of the region plummeted due to icy winds.

In Delhi, it was clear sky but a chilly day as cold winds swept across the national capital yesterday. The maximum temperature was recorded at 20 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 4.9 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.

The entire Uttar Pradesh is also reeling under intense cold wave.

In Haryana, Hisar recorded minimum temperature at zero degree Celsius as Met Department warned of ground frost hitting several places in the state and neighbouring Punjab.

In the Kashmir Valley, the minimum temperature stayed below the freezing point. Srinagar registered a low of -1.9 degrees Celsius. Leh in Ladakh region was the coldest place in Jammu and Kashmir at -14.9 degrees Celsius.

In Himachal Pradesh, the minimum temperature hovered around freezing point at most places.
