The Congress Party on Tuesday backed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat's assertion that there is a need to differentiate between real and fake gua rakhsaks.

"Yes, I agree that there are some people who have created tensions in the name of gau raksha. In fact, the same thing has been reiterated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but no action has been initiated by the administration," Congress leader Meem Afzal told ANI.

Bhagwat, in his annual Vijayadashami address, said there is a need to identify real gau rakshaks from the fake ones since an attempt is being made by some forces to mislead the entire nation.

"We need to be careful against these divisive forces. We need to unite society so that such elements do not take advantage," he said.

Afzal also said that the party stands by Bhagwat's remark on the Kashmir issue, saying the Congress has always believed that all of Kashmir belonged to India.

"The country is growing. There are some countries in the world who don't want to see India progress. They at times get support from people within. Kashmir is a serious concern. The commitment of our government is clear that Kashmir is an integral part of India and so is Gilgit-Baltistan," Bhagwat said.
