Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs M. Venkaiah Naidu told a gathering of Bhartiya Janata Party leaders on Thursday that the people of India had given a fitting lesson to the Congress Party in the 2014 general elections.
Naidu said, "The Congress and communalism go hand in hand. We are aware that it is the Congress that ruled and ruined the country. It is the Congress Party that has had a division agenda based on caste, creed, sex, religion and region".
He also said, "They try to divide and use minorities as vote banks, they always want division in the society so that they can derive political benefits. This has been the game plan of the Congress Party, which has paid dividends for sometime but at the end of day people have realized and have given a fitting lesson to the Congress Party".
According to Naidu, the entire nation has become one under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said, "We fought the elections on the basis of development, on the basis of good governance; these are the two major flanks of our campaign and Shri Narendra Modi was able to galvanize the entire country in favour of BJP".
He further said, "From Arunanchal Pradesh to Andaman, from Kanyakumari to Kashmir the mood and mandate was the same; that's why today Congress is not able to digest its defeat, it has not learnt its lesson, and they are again trying to rake up the same old issues and want to divide the people".
"They are indulging in a negative and nefarious campaign to portray the Indian government in poor light, but people of India are wise." , he added.
