Congress dubs Swamy BJP's 'well-paid contractual' litigant

With Centre allotting government accommodation to BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, who has been in the eye of the storm for his petition in the National Herald case, the Congress Party on Saturday dubbed him as the BJP and NDA's well-paid contractual litigant.

"Those who want to destroy the legacy of Nehru have hired a supaaribaaz' litigious," Congress leader Raj Babbar told ANI.

"The litigious who tries to find Ram in Asharam, and to whom the BJP had fired from their party, now this Modi Government offered him Z'-category security this can be clearly understood by everyone, why it is being done," he added.

Babbar further alleged that the present government has been on course to destroy the legacy of Nehru since it has assumed office.

According to reports, the Cabinet Committee on Accommodation (CCA), chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved the accommodation to the former Union minister who will have to pay five times the normal government charges. Sources said the Singh-headed panel took the decision in view of Swamy being a 'Z'-category protectee with CRPF cover.

Swamy has filed the case in a local court in 2012. The trial court then issued summons to the two leaders among others in June 2014, but they approached the Delhi High Court seeking a stay. On Monday this week, the high court refused to stay the summons, and asked all of the accused to appear for a hearing on December 19.

The accused face allegations that they illegally acquired property worth Rs. 5,000 crore belonging to the National Herald newspaper.
