The counting of votes for the by-poll in Harlakhi Assembly constituency in Bihar's Madhubani District began amid tight security arrangements on Tuesday morning.
As per latest reports, Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) candidate Sudhanshu Shekhar leading is by 2600 votes in Harlakhi.
The by-poll in Harlakhi Assembly was held on February 14 following the death of RLSP MLA Basant kumar. A total of nine candidates are in fray for the assembly constituency.
Meanwhile, counting of votes is also underway in Maihar Assembly by-election in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district, where the polls were held on Saturday.
A total of 15 candidates are in fray for the by-poll, although the main contest is between the Congress and the BJP.
As per latest reports, BJP's Narayan Tripathi is ahead of Congress' Manish Patel by over 1800 votes in Maihar.
