Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday said that it is an unforgivable crime to raise 'anti-national' slogans, adding that those who speak against the unity and sovereignty of the country will not be condoned.
"I do not want to make a political statement. However, those who speak against the unity and sovereignty of the country will not be condoned. We are ready to shed the last drop of blood for the nation. If someone raises anti-national slogans, it is an unforgivable crime," Singh said.
The Delhi High Court earlier today, placed JNU students' union president Kanhaiya Kumar, who was arrested in connection with a sedition case, in two-day police custody.
The court will on Tuesday hear the plea seeking National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe in the sedition case levelled against Kanhaiya Kumar.
Kumar was arrested last Friday over a protest organized in the JNU campus on February 9 against the hanging of 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
However, Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi had earlier dispelled the rumour that the NIA would probe the JNU incident, saying his men are competent enough to investigate each and every case which they register.
Bassi, however, said that the Delhi Police is duty bound to inform the NIA.
