Chances are that 'Darth Vader' could become the next president of Ukraine after the famous character from the 'Star Wars' franchise was named a presidential candidate for the country's Internet Party.

The 'Sith Lord', who will be facing the public vote on May 25, said in a statement that he was prepared to 'take responsibility for the fate of the country', Metro.co.uk reported.

Vader explained that he alone can make an empire out of a republic, to restore former glories, to return lost territories and pride for the country.

The bizarre bid for presidency comes in the wake of growing excitement over the upcoming 'Star Wars Episode 7'.
