Former Australian Formula One driver David Brabham, son of Brabham racing team founder Sir Jack Brabham, would bring the Brabham name to motorsport in 2015 as he would lead 'Project Brabham'.
David could feature in Formula One again in the future and he would lead Project Brabham as it competes in the World Endurance Championship. Fans would be able to buy a stake in the team, with the aim of funding a sustainable business.
David said that he has dreamt of seeing the Brabham team back on the track, winning at the highest level, adding that who knows where that could lead as it might hopefully bring him back to Formula One, The BBC reported.
The Australian said that it was not feasible to rebuild the team from scratch and hopes a new model of open source racing would succeed. Brabham last competed in the motorsport championship in 1992 with Britain's Damon Hill behind the wheel.
Founded in 1962, the team won the drivers' World Championship in 1966 through Sir Jack Brabham, the only man to win the title in his own car, in 1967 through New Zealander Denny Hulme, and in 1981 and 1983 with Brazilian Nelson Piquet, the report added.
