Expressing deeply concerned about senior citizens' well-being and to assess the implementation of action plan for the protection of life and property of senior citizens, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairman Swati Maliwal on Tuesday shot off a notice to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South East District, sought information by November10 with respect to each police station in its jurisdiction on number of senior citizens living within the jurisdiction of each police station and number of volunteer committees formed for each police station.

The commission further sought to know whether each police station is sending the Commissioner of Police a monthly report on offences committed against senior citizens, as mandated by Rule 22(2)(VIII) of the Delhi Maintenance of Parents and Senior Citizen Rules 2010. If yes, please provide a copy of the monthly report from all Police Stations in your jurisdiction for the month of June, she said.

Asking whether your office is submitting to the Commissioner of Police, a monthly report about the status of crimes against the senior citizens including progress of investigation and prosecution of registered offences, the commission said if yes, please provide a copy of the report submitted for the month of June 2016.

The commission also sought a copy of the report submitted for the month of June about the steps taken for prevention of crimes against the senior citizens.
