South Africa's ODI team captain AB de Villiers has reportedly lamented his side's inconsistency after they lost the second one day international to Sri Lanka in Pallekele on Wednesday.
South Africa had dominated in the first ODI in Colombo last Sunday as they defeated the hosts by 75 runs.
However, they lost badly by 87 runs while chasing Sri Lanka's 268 in their second ODI on Wednesday, Sport24 reported.
De Villiers said that it is never nice to win one and then lose one because it looks like an inconsistent team.
The skipper said that they should have got closer, adding that he does not like South Africa to lose not being in the game the last 10 or so overs.
South Africa lost five wickets for 26 runs in the middle of their innings to crash from 101 for 2 to 127 for 7, which effectively ended the game as a contest.
The final game of the three-game ODI series would be played in Hambantota on Saturday, the report added.
