A Delhi Police constable was shot at and hacked to death by assailants while trying to foil a robbery in outer Delhi's Shahbad Dairy area on Friday night.
The incident occurred at around 9 p.m. when Anand, the constable, who was posted at Bawana Industrial area, spotted snatchers near Samosa Chowk who were in a scuffle with a couple.
Anand later chased them and managed to catch two of them. However, one of the assailants pulled out a country made pistol and shot the constable.
Even after getting shot, the constable refused to let them go and was constantly getting hit with a helmet by the miscreants.
Leaving Anand bleeding, the assailants left the spot in a jiffy.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Shahbad Dairy police station.
