'Disappointed' Clarke slams Warner for 'Proteas ball tampering' comments

Australian captain Michael Clarke has criticised opening batsman David Warner over his accusations of ball tampering by South Africa in the second Test, and said that he is disappointed with Warner.

The ICC fined Warner 15 percent of his match fee for suggesting that South African wicketkeeper AB de Villiers might have illegally altered the condition of the ball to induce reverse swing during the hosts' 231-run win in the second Test at Port Elizabeth.

According to Sport24, ahead of the decisive third Test at Cape Town, Clarke said that his team has dealt with the issue in house, in addition to Warner being fined by the ICC, adding that he has made it clear to Warner how disappointed he is with his comments.

Clarke further said that he will meet his South African counterpart Graeme Smith at an appropriate time and make it clear how he feels about Warner's comments, although he added that on the field, he will back his teammates, including Warner, completely and expected the opener to love the challenge of 'copping stick' in the Test.

Meanwhile, Smith expressed his annoyance at Warner's comments, saying that the controversial batsman is becoming a bit of 'rent-a-quote', although he added that at the moment, his focus is on preparing for the game.
