World number one Novak Djokovic kicked off his Wimbledon defence with a comfortable win over James Ward in the opening round at the All England Club on Monday.
The Serbian recorded 6-0, 7-6 (7/3), 6-4 victory over Britain's Ward and will next face France's Adrian Mannarino in the second round, Sport24 reported.
If he succeeds in lifting Wimbledon crown for a third successive time, the 12-time Grand Slam champion will reach three-quarters of his way to become the first since Rod Laver in 1969 to complete the calendar Grand Slam.
Djokovic completed the career Grand Slam after his clinching the elusive French Open title earlier this month.
