Serb tennis ace Novak Djokovic has reportedly played down fears that he would miss this year's French Open due to the wrist injury he sustained at the Monte Carlo Masters last week.

Djokovic said that his wrist injury is not as serious as it first appeared and is hoping to be fit to play in the Madrid Masters, which start on 4 May.

According to Sport24, the world number two said that fortunately, the situation with the injury is better than it first seemed, adding that doctors have assured him that he would be ready for Madrid, then Rome and Roland Garros.

However, Djokovic, who lost to Roger Federer in Monte Carlo last week, said that he needs to continue with the recovery process and full medical treatments, which implies that he will have to take a short break in order to recover as soon as possible.

Djokovic is looking forward to win the French Open in order to complete his set of grand slam titles, the report added.
