Djokovic, Wawrinka stroll into second round of Oz Open

World number one Novak Djokovic strolled into the second round of the Australian Open with a 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Slovenian qualifier Aljaz Bedene in Melbourne.

Moreover, defending champion Stanislas Wawrinka and Spaniard David Ferrer also defeated their respective opponents to cruise past into the second round of the first grand slam of the year.

While Wawrinka kicked off his Australian Open title defence with a 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 win over Turkey's Marsel Ilhan, Ferrer also managed to breeze past his Brazilian opponent Thomaz Bellucci 6-7(2) 6-2 6-0 6-3 in the opening match despite suffering an early blow in the opening set.
